Look out!!!!!

I said in my post earlier today that Hudson was taking 2 to 3 steps in a row... Well that changed today!!!! He's walking miles now! Just kidding.. But he is walking across rooms!!! Our fabulous sitter Emily (she is awesome!!) told me when I got home that he had walked from the living room to our kitchen table... And then turned around to see if she saw him! How cute! Well of course I tried to entice him to do it again when I got home & got to pull out the video camera! Now these videos below are with my cell phone so the quality is horrible, but you can see those little legs a movin! Enjoy!

Growing up....

Hudson is growing so fast... Right before my eyes!!! Over the past week he has become even more vocal than he had been! Just babbling & hollering all the time! It is so cute! We've now added "baba" to our vocabulary!! Sad since that "baba" will hopefully be gone in the next couple of months! ha!
He is also on the move more & more every day!! It started almost 2 weeks ago with 3 steps one time that day... Since then it has increased to 3 or 4 steps every hour! He is constantly letting go & testing the waters! It is precious. He takes a step & stands there getting his balance & then a few more come! I've tried to get pictures but it is not working! Hope ya'll are having a great week!

Farmers Market

We loaded Hudson up & headed down to the Farmers Market this morning. There were only a few vendors there today but we came home with some loot! Can't wait to cook it all up! I was disappointed that the tomatoes still aren't ready. I love home grown tomatoes in the summer! YUM!!!

My Hometown- Ruston, Louisiana

I am participating in Kelly's Korner- Show us your hometown!

We live in a wonderful little town called Ruston & love it. It is a town of about 30,000, including the students of Louisiana Tech University.

We are known for the wonderful peaches grown here! You are missing out if you've never enjoyed a Ruston Peach!! Mitchams Peach Orchard has been operating since 1946 & also has a "Peach Store" you can check out online. They sell all kinds of peach products- jellies, preserves, butter, salsas, etc...
Are these peach trees not beautiful?! You should get a view
of the entire orchard when they are blooming!

The Louisiana Peach Festival will be held for the 60th time next month! It is held each June, during the peak of peach season, and is a weekend full of festivities. It is held in the heart of our city, in downtown Ruston amongst all kinds of shops & restaurants.

Ruston is revitalizing the downtown area right now with new sidewalks, underground cables, etc.. Railroad Park is in the center of the city & so many great events are held there! The City implemented "First Fridays" last year & there are always great things going on downtown on those days. Music, food, shopping.. Everything at your fingertips. On Saturday mornings the Ruston Farmers Market is held just around the corner.

Ruston is very fortunate to have Squire Creek Country Club just a few miles away. It is a top notch club with a fantastic golf course designed by Tom Fazio. You can't imagine how beautiful the grounds are. Just a drive through the area is breathtaking.

A great asset to our city is Lincoln Parish Park. It is beautiful & provides so much for our city. Their are extensive bike trails, pavillions, playgrounds, campsites, a lake with a beach area, etc.. Their are triathlons, bike races, etc held here often & people come from all over to participate in these.

Check out the City of Ruston's facebook photo album to see more photos of our unique & beautiful southern town! Seeing these photos make me realize what all I take for granted living here!

Mothers Day!

Yes, this is a little belated... But I didn't want to leave it out all together of our blog memories!
Of course this Mothers Day was extra special because it was my first one as a mother! We have always celebrated our mothers in the past, and although that will never change, it was extra special this year to celebrate with a happy, fun, & handsome little boy!! Our church does baby dedication on Mothers Day, so that was an added bonus! We got to dedicate our son to the Lord in front of our friends & family! What a wonderful service! There were 13 babies dedicated on this day!
Since both my parents & Eric's mom were with us on this Sunday morning, we invited them to our house for lunch. I spent ALL day on Saturday cooking. It really was lots of fun & I had a blast planning it all (I love to entertain- some of you are probably thinking I am crazy!). BUT.. I don't think I will ever spend my Mothers Day weekend like that again. I think next year I will let Eric cook or plan or do something.
Here are some pictures from our day!

Family picture before church started.. And all you Mom's out there... How do our children KNOW when we have something planned & REALLY need them to take a nap? On this morning... Hudson & I stayed home from Sunday School so he could take a good nap before church! RIGHT!!!!!!! Yea that didn't happen! He was so sleepy! Can you tell?

That is our portion of the stage.. That is our pastor in the green shirt challenging us.
Sweet sugar!
This was in the Ruston Daily Leader on Sunday morning!
See my handsome little in the lower left? Here is our spread for lunch!
Chicken Salad & croissants; Pesto/Shrimp pasta salad; Boiled Shrimp; Grape Salad

And lets not forget the homemade ice cream that my hubby made!!!
It was excellent as always!

Grandparents don't have rules.....

I could probably have a list a mile long already & Hudson is only 10 months! I think I have heard most grandparents say at one time or another that one of the best parts of being a grandparent v/s a parent is that you are not responsible for disciplining & they can have fun with no rules & then send the children back home! My parents have also forgotten that there are certain things I would like for Hudson to eat & certain things I would rather him not have at this age...
But I know a little Icee never hurt anybody!!!!!!!!!!

Ready to guess who this was feeding him?!?!

His Papa!! He sure does love this little boy!!
