Things we're learning...

I haven't been in the blogging mood & have been terrible at taking pictures lately... So today, I thought I would update on the things Hudson has mastered in the past few weeks.. Sponge I tell you.... Sponge. I love seeing him learning!!

- He can now tell you where most all of his body parts are: Head, nose, mouth, tounge, ears, hands, bellybutton, toes.
- He has added several words to his ever expanding vocabulary.. We're at about 40 words now- tephone (telephone, obviously!), Dake (Drake next door), Lindsey (Drake's mom), melmo (Elmo), Gracie (friend at school), Mimi (Mrs. Mary at school), water, bath, wagon, love you.
- He knows the colors blue & purple. And if you ask him to get the green ball, he goes & gets the green ball when it is sitting next to the orange ball.. He's doing great learning his colors!
- We have a book called "Mimi's Toes" so now he thinks his blow up monkey is Mimi!

This age is so much fun!!!

16 months

16 months!!! Wow! In 60 short days, Hudson will be one & a half. Oh my.... I just want time to slow down! This age is so much fun. It truly is amazing how much children this age pick up! They are sponges!

A few highlights from Hudson at this age:

His vocabulary consists of 31 words! I wrote them all down in his baby book about 3 weeks ago. This weekend, he said his first sentence- "That's a ball!" He kept pointing at pumpkins saying 'ball" & Eric & I kept telling him "Hudson, that is a pumpkin, not a ball." After several times going round & round, he finally said emphatically- "THAT'S A BALL!" It was quite hilarious! Eric & I just burst out laughing & I couldn't wait to tell my parents! We all got a kick out of that.

The same day he said the above, he grouped other words for the first time. Eric came home & said, "Hey, Hudson." Instead of his normal "hey" response back, he said "Hey Dada!" Just precious I tell you!

When he is hungry, he goes to either his high chair or the refrigerator.
When he wants milk or juice he asks for "mik" or "juice"

When we think he might be sleepy & we ask him if he is ready to go night night, he runs to his room & stands by his crib if he is infact ready to go to sleep!"

Boy has our job gotten easier with this communication! I don't have to guess so much as to what he wants.

He can tell you what a dog, cow & lion "say."

He has gotten to be quite the climber. You cannot leave him anywhere unattended for very long for fear he might get hurt! The other day he climbed into Eric's office chair & when Eric walked in, Hudson's hands were on the desk & his knee was lifted tryin gto climb onto the desk! aaahh!

About a week ago, he started yelling Mommy in lieu of Mama. He goes back & forth, but Mommy is just about the cutest thing I have ever heard!

He is finally loving daycare. He stopped crying at drop off several weeks ago & now when I get there to pick him up, he likes to take me around & show me things in his classroom!

he is getting to be a pickier eater here lately.. the only meat he will really eat is deli meat & chicken nuggets. Doesn't seem to care for hamburger meat at all.

He can get the spoon to his mouth with food on it but we still have some work to do on 'scooping".

He gives the best hugs & he will hug his friends when we ask him to!It is darling!

He got tubes in his ears last week & so far so good! We go back this week for our check up.

Hudson is so social & I love it!! He does not meet a stranger & he sure knows how to work a crowd! While visiting Green Clinic for labs & xrays before his surgery, he made his way around to all the other patients sitting around us. He'd stand in front of them until they looked up at him, then he'd wave, say "haaaaaaayyyy" in his little southern drawl & smile real big! They thought he was a hoot! One lady decided he'd either be a politician or a church greeter!! Lets hope it is the church greeter! lol!

Hudson is wearing size 5 diapers & 24 month or 2T clothes. My boy is tall!!! (wonder where he gets that?!) He is just shy of being 3 feet tall! Hard to believe!

Hudson, you are so much fun & we love you so much! As I've heard other parents say, I wonder what we did to entertain ourselves before because you are just about the best entertainment I can think of!!

Here is a picture of my little Charlie Brown!! Lots of Halloween happenings to update you all on next!
