14 months

Hudson is 14 months old today!!
He is SO busy & so much fun! He doesn't sit still for a second.. Not even to watch tv! Now, I shouldn't be complaining because as I've mentioned before, I would rather my child enjoy activities above tv & video games. BUT... it would be helpful if he would just sit & watch tv for a few minutes while I get ready in the mornings! If Eric is home it is fine, but on those days he is out of town on business, getting ready takes a bit longer with a little fella tugging at me!
Hudson has 12 teeth fully in & the 4 canines are on there way.
He is wearing a size 4 or 5 diaper.
Some 18 & some 24 month clothing.
Size 5 shoes, but will probably need a bigger size before long.

Not exact on the height & weight, but definitely bigger than his 12 month appointment. I am guessing 34 inches tall & 30 lbs. (he was 33 inches & 27 lbs at 12 months)
Hudson sleeps 11 hours at night & has finally transitioned to 1 nap the past 5 days.
He absolutely LOVES books!! Loves them!
He is talking A LOT! It is so so cute! And he surprises me all the time with the timing of his words! Over the past few days, some of his new words have been: chicken, diaper, purple, baba for bath, woof woof for dog. He's been following commands for a good while on a few things such as: getting his ball, finding his choo choo train, running to the bathroom when we ask if he is ready for a bath, finding the "H" in the bathtub with his bathtub letters. It truly is amazing what all these babies are able to learn. They pick up on so many things that we don't give them credit for!
Hudson definitely knows what the camera is for & he will NOT smile! If I get a picture of him smiling, it is by accident on his part I can assure you!

Hudson started daycare today for the first time. I was not nervous about the place or the care he'd be receiving, but I was nervous about how he'd nap on the floor & in a room full of other children. From all accounts, he had a great first day! We walked in his room & he got right down & started playing! Of course he & Emory found each other first & I think that probably helped both of their comfort levels to have each other there. His teacher, Ms Mary, said that he only cried 1 time today & that was when she got onto him for putting something in his mouth. (for the 100th time, I'm sure!) He actually did go to sleep on his nap mat, too! Amazing! He didn't sleep a real long time, but hopefully that will come. Ms Mary said she just layed down beside him, patted his back & sang to him & he went to sleep!

As always, I can't believe another month has passed us by. Our sweet boy is the light of our lives & so much fun. We love you, Hudson!

Doesn't he look like a little linebacker here? So stocky & solid!

Making our menu

On Sunday, I typically write out a menu for the next weeks worth of dinners... I love to cook, so this is always a fun task & I love trying new things. Going to the grocery store, though, is not my favorite part of it! I'm always looking for new recipes & I prefer trying things I find on peoples blogs v/s randomly selecting out of cookbooks. So if you have anything good & exciting to try, send me a link or comment & let me know! I've tried several items from Kelly's Korner Recipe Blog as well as some from Messy Aprons!

This week we will be having the following entrees, in no particular order:

-Texas Caviar Casserole
-Chicken Enchilada Soup
-Mexican Pile Up
-Crunchy Hot Chicken Salad from Joanna's blog!

And I'm planning to make some chicken salad to have around for lunch.

I'll be waiting to hear from some of ya'll with some good recipes!

Summer fun!

We took full advantage of the "cool" streak we had last week & spent lots of time outside. I can only hope that Hudson's love for the outdoors remains as he grows older! I was definitely an outside child, a tomboy to be exact, and Eric was the typical pesky, into everybody's stuff, neighborhood boy! haha! I think there is definitely something to be said for outside fun v/s tv & video games all the time. I'm crossing my fingers! But anyway.. We've been enjoying being outside & even letting Hudson run around either naked (gasp!), in a swim diaper, or just jumping in his pool clothed! Hey, no harm in that, right?
Here are some pictures from the past week or so!

Wrapped around his fingers...

Hudson is very blessed to have 3 grandparents who pretty much think he hangs the moon! I need to do a better job of taking pictures of him with each of them! Here are a few from this past week! Nana (Eric's mom) lives an hour away so we don't get to see her as often as we'd like. My parents, Yaya & Papa, are here in Ruston so they come by & see Hudson pretty much every day. He has so much fun with all of them!

I hate this is cloudy! The humidity got to my lens!

Footprints

Well.... There is a first time for everything!! Today was my first attempt with paint & Hudson! Jessie, Hillary & I decided to attempt footprints of our children for the first time today! We had a BLAST!! And I think the kiddos had a great time, too!! Jessie was armed with paint in primary colors & we all brought our own canvases. We stripped the babies down to their swim diapers & had the baby pool ready to go for clean up!! It was very messy, but very worth it!!! Of course we don't have any pictures of the actual painting.. All of our hands were a little busy!

Childrens Museum

Hudson & I had a great afternoon today with my friend Stacy & her daughter Lacey Ryan. Stacy is an old friend from college & we don't get to see each other often enough! We met in Monroe for lunch at Not Just Pie (you're missing out if you've never been there) & then we headed to the Childrens Museum. That place is great!!!! Lots of fun, even though our little ones are still very young! Hudson & Lacey Ryan had so much fun exploring everything!
Here are a few pictures from our time at the museum. I was so mad at myself for forgetting my camera; these are all from my phone.

Video

Ok so my last post was supposed to have a video with it... But apparently my phone did not want to upload it like it was supposed to! So here you go! Hudson reading his book in the car! It's over a minute so don't feel bad if you get bored fast! But he does give a real good CHEESE at the end! Squinty eyes & all! ha!

Kindermusik

Hudson just wrapped up his 3rd round of Kindermusik last week! Yaya has been taking him & each & every time he loves it even more than the last time! He was only 5 months old when they started going so he has come a long way since that first Kindermusik session! Mrs Pam is wonderful with them & they all seem to have so much fun! This last round he had great partners in crime!! He & my good friend Hillary's little boy Reynolds are the only boys, & the other 3 are girls. Hillary always tells me how funny it is to see how the girls respond v/s the boys. The girls are much more content to sit & do what they are supposed to do while our boys like to roam & carry their items around with them!
I love that Hudson gets this special time with my Mom! And I appreciate her so much for taking him! I'm pretty sure she enjoys it as much, if not more, than Hudson does!

I was so lucky this time to see pictures from each week thanks to Mrs Cindy Hockenjos! She always took pictures & posted them on facebook pretty soon for us to view! Here are some from each week!
Shakers!

They loved the scarves!

And the drum was a hit! So much so that we have one just like it at home now!Listening to Mrs Pam!

Uncle Gavin was in town & he wanted to see Hudson in action so he went with my Mom to watch! Plus he wanted to see Mrs Pam! She taught him during her first year of teaching!
Before you see these last pictures.... You moms will understand where I am coming from..
I about died when I saw these pictures & Hudson had a pacifier in his mouth in EVERY picture!
For several months now, he has only gotten a paci in his crib when he sleeps. Well aparantly this particular day, Yaya forgot! And didn't take it away! Ha! Hillary told me that he would take it out to sneeze or to say something & then pop it right back in. You know they are too old for a paci when they do that! haha!

Peek a boo!
See what I mean about the boys wandering off?
